In order to strengthen the firefighters' ability to rescue disasters in narrow lanes and ensure the safety of people's lives and property, the first branch of the first fire brigade of the Fire Bureau, Chiayi City handled fire rescue drills in the narrow lanes of the jurisdiction at 10:00 on the 13th of this month (12) and instilled public knowledge of fire protection to improve fire safety.
When a small alley is involved in a fire, large fire-fighting vehicles cannot enter the small valley where only small tank cars or multiple water belt extensions and mobile pump pressure relays can be used for disaster relief. The exercise promotes the concept of “closing the door to self-rescue” to prevent disasters and escapes, and also asks residents to pay attention to the safety of household use of electricity and gas. In addition, the owners of the roadway parking vehicles affecting disaster relief vehicles are also asked to let the public know the dangers caused by parking in narrow lanes.
The Fire Bureau of Chiayi City said that there are usually many old houses in the narrow lanes. It takes a lot of manpower and time in the rescue process to reach the house on fire. If vehicles are parked in the lanes or articles piled up in the lanes, the disaster relief vehicles will not be able to enter the fire scene and will cause the loss of people's lives and property. Therefore, the people are asked to face the problem of keeping the narrow lanes unblocked and pay attention not to stacking items and illegal parking to avoid obstructing disaster relief and delaying disaster rescue so as to better use the precious rescue time for firefighting, saving people and disaster relief.
